OBITUARY - Wm. M. CAMPBELL

Wm. M. CAMPBELL was born in Sidney, Island of Cape Breton, October 20th, 1811. He came to the United States when a young man, and after drifting about somewhat from Boston southward finally settled in Quincy, Florida, where he married. He moved from Florida to Ringgold county, Iowa, in 1861, where he resided until the time of his death, which occurred at his home near Caledonia, Novemeber 20, 1886. He was twice married. His first wife died in 1851, and the death of the second occurred in 1870. He was the father of thirteen children, eleven of whom are still living.

He united with the Methodist church early in life and has been a faithful and consistent christian. He death was peacefull and triumphant, a fitting closing for a life of great activity and usefulness. He made his influence, which was widely extended, tell mightily on the side of right. He sought at all times to promote intelligence and true piety. Our county in his death has lost one of its most intelligent and useful citizens. Funeral services, in which a large circle of friends participated, were held at Caledonia, Friday, November 22d, and were conducted by Rev. W. B. THOMPSON, assisted by Rev. A. L. BATES.
