OBITUARY - WILLIAM K. BUTLER

William K. BUTLER, son of Abraham and Eunice BUTLER, was born in Worth county, Missouri, near Allendale, January 14, 1859, and died at his home in Mount Ayr September 26, 1925, at the age of 66 years, 8 months and 12 days.

He was united in marriage February 14, 1881, with Jennie C. KOHAL and this union was blessed with seven children, four of whom have gone on before: Gretta Fern, who died February 4, 1904, and three died in infancy. He is survived by his wife and three children, Mrs. John S. KATER of Pine River, Minn.; Earl A. BUTLER and Mrs. Grant L. HAYES, of Mount Ayr; and by six brothers and sisters, Ellen SYLVESTER of Denver, Colo.; Rebecca HOPKINS, of Grant City, Mo.; Elizabeth CAIN, Flemming, John and Seth BUTLER of Mount Ayr, besides five grandchildren and a host of friends and other relatives.

The early part of his life was spent in Worth county, Missouri and in February, 1910, he moved to Ringgold, Iowa, where he lived four years and then moved to Mount Ayr August, 1914, where he spent the remainder of his life.

In August, 1901, he was converted and later united with the Methodist church of the south, Butler Chapel near Hermicks, Mo. Due mainly to his efforts the church was built there and he with a few others hauled the material over eighteen miles on sleds for the church building. Mr. BUTLER was its first Sunday school superintendent and remained so for a good many years.

His chief interest was always in his family and church and after he moved to Mount Ayr regularly attended the Methodist church of this city.

In his business affairs he was honest, upright and always considerate of others. He had been in failing health for the past three years and during that time was patient and uncomplaining.

He was a kind and loving husband and father and a good neighbor and friend to all.

During his closing days he expressed his willingness and desire to go to his reward, feeling that his work here on earth was completed.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Methodist church, being conducted by the pastor, Rev. Jay KIRKENDALL, and the interment was in Rose Hill cemetery [Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa].

CARD OF THANKS
We take this means of expressing to the neighbors and friends our sincere, heart-felt thanks for kindness and sympathy so generously bestowed during the illness and on the occasion of the death and funeral of our husband and father.
