DEATH of ANDREW BRECKENRIDGE

Andrew BRECKENRIDGE, an old and highly respected citizen of Ringgold county, died at his home in Jefferson township on Friday night, February 5 [1897]. He was taken sick with the grippe which settled into pneumonia and resulted fatally, his sickness being of short duration. He came to Ringgold county at an early date, but before the [Civil] war returned to Ohio, where he enlisted for the defense of his country and served during the war. He then returned to this county where he has since resided. he followed farming as an occupation, and has always been one of our leading agriculturalists. He was public spirited and took an interest in public affiars. Thus another one of Ringgold county's oldest citizens has "joined the innumerable caravan,: and is beyond life's sorrows.

The funeral services were preached by his pastor, Rev. TIDBALL of Shannon City, and the interment was made in Eugene cemetery.

NOTE: Andrew was born December 17, 1831. Andrew's wife, Mahala was born November 2nd, 1836 and died April 24, 1913. She was interred beside Andrew. Also interred at Eugene Cemetery was Lida E. BRECKENRIDGE, born circa 1860 and died April 19, 1874 at the age of 13 years, 11 months and 27 days, the daughter of A. & M. BRECKENRIDGE; and Margaret BRECKENRIDGE, died August 6, 1877 aged 74 years, 5 months and 21 days, Andrew's mother.
