Kellerton Post Office
Fred A. BROWN had been the Postmaster for six years, operating out of an office at Cross, when it was discontinued on October 29, 1879. He was appointed as Kellerton's first Postmater, his commission dated November 24, 1879 which was signed by D. M. KEY, the Postmaster General under President Rutherford B. HAYES. The Post Office was located in the BROWN residence on Decatur Street.
J. W. KENDALL, editor of the Kellerton Mentor, was appointed as Kellerton's Postmaster on November 18, 1881. The Post Office was moved to the Mentor office.
Throughout the next few years, the Post Office was housed in various buildings in the business section of Kellerton.
Smiley B. HEDGES, Kellerton's Postmaster at the time, bought the brick building which had fomerly been the Ringgold County Savings Bank, on December 25, 1931. Kellerton's Post Office was moved into this building in January of 1932, and was dedicated in the Fall of 1961. This building is still Kellerton's Post Office.
