WHALEN/WHELAN, NUGENT

WHALENWHELAN, NUGENT

I am looking for information on John WHALEN/WHELAN and his wife Elisabeth NUGENT. They lived in Muscatine Co., Iowa until shortly after the 1870 census at which time they supposedly moved to Grinnell, Powesheik Co., Iowa. By 1880, I found them in Jasper Co., Iowa. John and Elisabeth, both born about 1828 in Ireland, had Richard, Mary, William, Thomas and John. Family lore says one of the sons became a lawyer.

Elisabeth was a sister to my great great grandfather, John NUGENT. She also had a brother James.

Any information on John and Elisabeth will be greatly appreciated. This family has been elusive for quite some time!
