LOETA GRAYCE GLASS

Loeta Grayce Glass was born at her parents home at Toledo, Iowa, on December 21, 1912. She was one of ten children born to Homer and Fanny Razey Gray.

Grayce grew to womanhood in the same community where she graduated from high school. She taught rural school near Hartwick.

On December 22, 1932 she was married to James Benjamin Glass at Columbus, Nebr. They were the parents of four children—Carole, James, David and Jerry.

With the exception of three years spent north of Victor and one year spent at Toledo, Iowa. Grayce’s entire married life was lived on their farm home west of Brooklyn. She died June 29, 1978 at the age of 65.

She is survived by her husband James, of over 45 years; her daughter—Carole Burns of Victor; three sons—James L. Glass of rural Brooklyn, David Glass of Cedar Rapids and Jerry Glass of Brooklyn, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Also surviving where two brothers—John and Harry Gray, both of Toledo, Iowa; three sisters—Pearl, Mrs. Haners Lorenzen of Toledo, Mrs. Mabel Van Nice of St. Ansgar, Iowa and Beatrice, Mrs. Thomas Calkins of Denver, Colo., and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded by two sisters—Bessie Radford and Hazel Pugh, and two brothers—Raymond and Homer Gray.

Funeral services for Mrs. Glass were held Sunday, July 2, 1978 at 2pm at the Victor Baptist Church, with Rev. David Hornok, Pastor, officiating. Two vocal selections, “In the Garden” and “What God Hath Promised” were sung by Edward McAdam, accompanied by Mrs. Don Alba, organist. In care of flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd McBride and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lofgreen.

Concluding services and burial were held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Victor, with Larry Neuhaus, Steve Niester, Greg Rasmussen, Franklin Bro, Dennis Van Nice and Wayne Gray serving as casket bearers. The McAninch-Fremming Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
