SERVICES FOR MRS. BILLICK, PIONEER RESIDENT, HELD

Funeral services for Mrs. George Billick, widow of the last civil war veteran to die in Brookln, were held Wednesday afternoon from the Methodist church with the Rev. W.W. Bentzinger in charge.

Mrs. Billick died at her home here Sunday, Sept. 27. she was nearly 90 years old.

Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery here. Pallbearers were six grandsons and great grandsons, Ray Kann, Frank Smith, Darrell Mullen, Clyde Graham, George Graham and Wilford Billick.

The daughter of Enos Heath and Thankful Etta Razey, Herrietta Elizabeth Billick was born Dec. 9, 1852 at Black Brook, Clinton County, New York. She came to Wisconsin and later to Iowa when a young girl, finally settling in Madison township, Poweshiek county. It was there at the home of her uncle, Henry Drummond, that she was married to George Billick Jan. 10, 1869. Dr. I.N. Busby read the ceremony.

With the exception of a few years spent in Scott county, near Clinton, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Billick maintained their home in Madison township until 1884, when they moved to Brooklyn.

Jan. 10, 1939, this couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary at the house in Brooklyn which had been their home for 55 of those years. Mr. Billick passed away.

Surviving are all but one of their children, Thankful Etta Graham, having passed away in 1917. The five remaining are: Mrs. Cora Belle McAninch, Mrs. Sarah Deborah McAninch, Mrs. Loella Mabel Ahrens, Charles Benjamin Billick, and George Weaver Billick, all of Brooklyn. 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Billick was a member of the Woman's Relief corps and Grace Methodist Church, Brooklyn.
