STANLEY BROWN

Stanley (Stub) Brown, 74, Creston, formerly of Grinnell, died of pneumonia Sunday, Sept. 14, in Creston Manor Care Center.

Burial of the cremains took place in a graveside service Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Graceland Cemetery, Creston. Memorials have been established with the Parkinson Disease Foundation and the National Elks Foundation.

He was born March 16, 1919, in Grinnell, the son of Frank and Blanch Meacham Brown. He attended the former Iowa State College for three years and was an army veteran of World War II. He was married in 1942 to Betty Carr.

He farmed near Grinnell for several years during which time he was named to the Outstanding Young Farmer Award. He later worked in Colorado, then was employed by Farm Service in Boone, Logan, Prairie City and Creston where he established his own feed business which he managed until he retired.

He was a member of the Farm Bureau, the Creston Elks Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Prairie City Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, Creston; two daughters, Sally Mayeux, Albuquerque, N.M., and Linda Johnson, Des Moines; one son, Charles, Roseville, Calif.; one sister, Maryanne Duey, Waverly; and four grandchildren.
