GEORGE HINSHAW, 78

George R. Hinshaw, 78, of Montezuma died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998 in Montezuma.

Services were Thursday, September 24, 1998 at 1:30 p.m. at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma. The Rev David Green of Grinnell Regional Hospice officiated.

Music was "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross."

Mr. Hinshaw was born July 10, 1920 in Atchinson County, Mo. near Tarkio, Mo., the son of W.M. and Bessie Elliot Hinshaw. He attended Tarkio, Mo. schools.

On July 26, 1940, he was married in Batavia. George and Frances Hinshaw had two daughters and two sons.

In the late 1930s, Mr. Hinshaw became a member of the C.C.C. stations in Malvern, Fort Des Moines and Fairfield. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was a 50-year member of the Auburn Masonic Lodge in Des Moines, ZaGaZig Shrine, Sheet Metal Workers Local 45, American Welding Society and Prairie Knolls Country Club.

He retired after 32 years with Waldinger Corporation of Des Moines.

For the past several years, he and his wife lived at Lake Ponderosa.

Mr. Hinshaw was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert; and two brothers, James and Jack.

He is survived by his wife, Frances, and their family: two daughters, Bessie Shilling and family of Sherman, Texas and Elizabeth Olson and family of Dows; and one son, Charles Hinshaw and family of St. Paul, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Sarah Frances Smith of Maryville, Mo.; other relatives and many friends.

Memorials may be made to Grinnell Regional Hospice.
