RITES PLANNED

Tech. Sgt. Gerald R. Hinshaw, 35, of Kellogg died May 26 at Anderson AFB, Guam, due to an apparent heart attack.

He was born June 21, 1936, in Grinnell, the son of Homer and Velma Johnson Hinshaw. He attended Kellogg schools, joining the Air Force in 1957. A control inspector, he had served in Nebraska, Arkansas, Montana, Texas, Southeast Asia, England, and Spain. He was married to Perryann Harris May 2, 1958.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, Jerry Lee and Kevin Richard; one daughter, Brenda Kay; his mother, Mrs. Velma Hinshaw of Kellogg; three brothers, the Rev. Robert Hinshaw of Kellogg, Garry Hinshaw of Barksdale AFB, Shreveport, La., and Roger Hinshaw of Indianola; one sister, Mrs. Betty Hobbs of Kellogg; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Harris of Grinnell. He was preceded in death by his father, Homer in 1965 and his daughter, Karen Dalene in 1964.

Tech. Sgt. Hinshaw was a member of the Dell Baptist Church, Dell, Ark.

Services are tentatively scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Kellogg United Methodist Church, with burial in Rock Creek Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by an Air Force unit from Offut AFB, Omaha, Neb. The Rev. Tommy Carney of the Sadler Baptist Church, Sadler, Tex., will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Robert Gamble, pastor of the Kellogg Methodist Church.

Memorial services will be held at Cap's Baptist Church in Abilene, Tex., where he had been stationed at Dyess AFB, and on the island of Guam at the same time services are being held locally. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Heart Fund.

The Toland-Wallace Funeral Home in Newton is in charge of arrangements.
