DAISY BROWN DIES AT 98

Daisy D. Brown, 98, of the Mayflower Home died Thursday morning, Jan. 6, at the Mayflower Home Health Care Center.

Miss Brown's body was donated to medical science. Friends may call the Smith Funeral Home for additional information.

The daughter of Kendrick and Lydia Gates Brown, she was born July (31)? 1878, at Ames. She was graduated from Ames High School and received hr B.A. degree from the University of Chicago. She worked as a missionary with the American Board of the Congregational Church in Foochow, China, and also worked on the staff of the Y.W.C.A. in Shanghai, China, for 15 years.

Miss Brown returned to the U.S. and worked on the library staff of the University of Chicago for 20 years. Following her retirement, she lived in Ames before moving to the Mayflower Home in 1959. She was a member of the Grinnell United Church of Christ-Congregational, the DAR, and the United Nations Association.

There are no immediate survivors. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gates M. Brown and Harry F. Brown; and two sisters, Lillian Loughran and Lydia B. Hipps.
