COLLEEN SEEL

Des Moines - Colleen Seel of Des Moines passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born in 1917 in Brooklyn, Iowa, the third child of Fred and Allie (Veverka) Mulhern. Colleen grew up in Mason City, Iowa where she met and married C. Ray Seel. Ray and Colleen moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for seven years and then to the Kansas City area. In their early married years Colleen was a homemaker and stay at home mother. When Ray became ill, Colleen began a 30 year career as an executive secretary and assistant with employers in the Kansas City area and culminating in a 15 year career at Kansas State University where she retired as administrative assistant for the Vice President of Student Affairs. Upon retirement Colleen moved to Fort Collins, Colorado and 12 years ago moved back to Iowa.

Colleen is survived by her son, Chuck (Nancy) of Johnston, Iowa; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren living in Pennsylvania, Kansas and Texas. In addition to her husband, Colleen was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and one sister, all of the Mason City, Iowa area; and daughter, Barbara Consigli and son-in-law, Dr. Richard A. Consigli, Manhattan, Kansas.

At Colleen's direction there will be no funeral service. Following cremation her ashes will be scattered in a location special to her. Anyone wishing to make memorial contributions may make them to Silent Unity, 1901 NW Blue Pkwy, Unity Village, MO 64065, or to the Johnson Cancer Research Center, Kansas State University, 1 Chalmers Hall, Manhattan, Kansas 66506-3901, or a charity of the donors choice.

Celebrate Life Iowa has been entrusted with the care of Colleen and her family.
