LUKE D. MANN

Luke D. Mann, 28, of Brooklyn died Sunday, March 14, 2010, at his home.

A funeral service will be held Friday, March 19, at 10:30 a.m. at Grinnell Christian Church with John Epperson, pastor emeritus of the church, officiating. Interment will be in Ivy Hill Cemetery in Malcom. Fellowship and lunch will be held at the Malcom American Legion following the committal service.

Visitation will be held prior to his service on Friday at the Christian Church from 9 until 10:30 a.m. with his family present to greet friends.

Memorials may be made to the Luke D. Mann Memorial Fund, in care of Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on the Smith Funeral Home Web site at www.smithfh.com.

Lucas David Mann, the son of David Eugene Mann and Vicki Lynn Cummings was born on July 7, 1981, in Grinnell. He was raised in Montezuma, Scranton, and Brooklyn. He participated in wrestling and football at BGM High School in Brooklyn, graduating with the BGM High School class of 2000. He then attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, and the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. He worked for Donaldson's in Grinnell as a welder. He recently had obtained his chemical applicator's license and commercial driver's license and begun working for New Century Farm Service in Millersburg. Like his grandfather, Eugene Mann, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Malcom.

He is survived by his mother, Vicki Van Renterghem of Brooklyn; his sister, Niki Stuart of Hudson; his nephew and niece; his paternal grandparents, Eugene and Mary Lou Mann of Malcom; and his maternal grandmother, Marilyn Cummings of Malcom; and his special friend, Jen Gulling of Newton. He was preceded in death by his father, David Mann, and his maternal grandfather, Marvin Cummings.
