GREENLEY, 17, DIES
OUTRIGHT IN CAR CRASH

Sheila N. Greenley, 17, of Willow Mobile Home Court in Grinnell died in a car wreck south of town between 12 and 1 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Greenley was apparently southbound on the extension of East St., approaching the T-intersection with the Farmhand road. Trooper Bob Kinseth of the Iowa Highway Patrol said Greenley failed to negotiate the intersection, evidently swerving to the right of a sign, crashing through a fence and travelling some 350 feet into a field.

The car, said Kinseth, grazed off one tree before slamming another hear-on. The collision evidently flipped the car and spun it around.

Greenley's body was extricated from the vehicle by the Grinnell Fire Department with the aid of the Jaws of Life implement and other equipment. The body was transferred from there to the Smith Funeral Home.

Services for Sheila N. Greenley, 17, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert A. Towner, priest-in-charge of St. Paul's Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery.

County coroner Dr. Robert Carney said Greenley's death came as a result of a broken neck at the base of the skull. She had also suffered multiple fractures of the ribs, arms and legs.

She was the daughter of Gary and JoAnn Greenley of Searsboro. Gary Greenley is a draftsman at Miracle Equipment Co. here.
