BRONSON, (MICHIGAN) - Morris E. Wood, 83, of 128 Compton St., died Nov. 29, 1996, at the Pennock Hospital in Hastings following a short illness. He was born July 18, 1913, in Grinnell, Iowa, a son of Frank E. and Nellie (Morris) Wood. On March 15, 1938, he married Lillian Anderson in Des Moines, Iowa. The couple moved to Bronson where he was hired by the former Douglas Manufacturing Company (now Douglas Autotech) in the engineering department. In 1947 he became the design engineer at the former Bronson Reel Company and was responsible for design of most of the Bronson Reels. The company closed in 1968. In 1970 Wood opened his photography business in which he stayed active until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Snow Prairie Bible Church in Bronson and enjoyed fishing, flying and aerial photography. Survivig are his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynne and Richard Mead of Hastings and Carole and Barry Bostrom of Terre Haute, Ind.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Nancy Wood of Slidell, La., and Richard and Peggy Wood of Portage; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wilbur Wood; and one grandson, Kyle Wood. Relatives and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Kolcz Funeral Home, here services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Phil Charles of the Snow Prairie Bible Church officiating. Burial will be in the Bronson Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Snow Prairie Bible Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
