RITES CONDUCTED

Harry J. Otto, 76, of Brooklyn died Monday, April 15, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted at the graveside at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Brooklyn at 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Revs. John Epperson and Grover Branson officiating. Pallbearers were Clinton Smith, Charles Routier, Vernon Graham, Pete Peterson, Henry Harris and Wilford Mikel. Honorary bearers were Harlan Dare, Merle Harris, Ross Mintle, Louis Fuller, Harvey Harris and Denver Miles.

The Nevenhoven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

The son of Irvin E. and Blanche Goreham Otto, he was born on Dec. 31, 1908, near Malcom. He attended rural school and Brooklyn High School.

On Dec. 20, 1933, he was married to Mildred McGinn in Brooklyn. They farmed at various locations in Poweshiek County, moving to Brooklyn upon retirement.

Mr. Otto was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge in Grinnell, the Sonora Grange and the Pomona Grange.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred; two daughters, Sharon Smith of Grinnell and Kathleen Burkett of Grinnell; one brother, Eugene of Brooklyn; two sisters, Jennie Parks of Oskaloosa and Anna Breniman of Brooklyn; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons.
