Morris Charles Plotts, Evangelistic Minister, Preached Funeral Sermon

Funeral services for Mrs. Dewey Butler, 35 years old, who died Tuesday afternoon at her home, were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Church of Christ. Morris Charles Plotts, Pentecostal evangelist, preached the funeral sermon. Burial was in the West Liberty cemetery. The pallbearers were Ross Morrow, Clyde Taylor, Ralph Stanford, Lloyd Stanford, John McKee and Frank Williams. A double quartet from New Sharon sang favorite selections.

Mrs Butler had been seriously ill but a day and her death was a surprise to her many relatives and friends. She was a faithful wife and good mother and will be greatly missed in her home.

Alma Elmira Johnson, eldest daughter of J. F. and Mary Johnson, was born October 23, 1898, in Poweshiek county, Iowa, and passed to her reward August 28, 1934. She suffered patiently for many years and died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon about 1 o'clock after a severe attack of internal hemorrhage.

On September 19, 1915, she joined and was baptized at the Little Mount Baptist church and later added her membership to the Christian church at Montezuma. In July, 1934, she came into fellowship with the Pentecostal people at Montezuma, whose faith she fully upheld at the time of her death.

On November 27, 1919, she was united in marriage to Daniel Dewey Butler. To this happy union were born two children, Laverna and Richard. In 1931 they adopted a baby boy, Donald, who immediately found a place in their hearts and home.

She was a loving wife and mother, a women held in high esteem by all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her husband and children, Laverna, Donald Lee and Richard Roy; her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Johnson; three sisters and five brothers, one brother and sister having preceded her in death.
