2 June 1916 --- 13 September 1991

Louise Gilmore, 75, Montezuma, died Sept 14, 1991 at Karen Acres Nursing Home in Urbandale. A memorial service was held at 11 am Friday, Oct 25 in Watts Funeral Home, Montezuma. The Rev. Margaret Butler of St James Episcopal Church in Oskaloosa officiated and Alice Underwood provided organ music for selections "How Great Thou Art" and "The Lord's Prayer." Her body was donated to medical research and private interment of remains will be at a later date in the Masonic-IOOF Cemetery at Montezuma.

She was born June 2, 1916 on a farm southeast of Montezuma, the daughter of Benjamin an Winnie Light Gilmore. She graduated from Gibson High School in 1934 and then the University of Iowa with a major in art. She lived in McLean, Va., where she worked for the government for 22 years. She returned to Montezuma to care for her mother. She was a member of the Episcopal Church in McLean.

Survivors include three cousins, Leta Hollmann of Malcom, Max Light of Des Moines and Margaret Light of Deep River. A memorial to cancer research has been established in lieu of flowers.
