ANNA R. JOHNSTON
Miss Anna R. Johnston was born in Rock Island County, Ill, Sept 16, 1852 and departed this life Dec. 31, 1919 at the home of her sister, Mrs. Thos. Orr of Brooklyn, Ia. She came with her parents to Iowa in 1868 and since then has resided in Poweshiek county. She was baptized and confirmed in the Episcopal church at an early age. She was a member of a family of thirteen, eight brothers an five sisters. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, four brothers and three sisters. She enjoyed good health until about one year ago when she gradually began to fail and since then has been a patient sufferer. She will be greatly missed among her relatives and friends as she was always a willing helper when needed. She was a cheerful disposition always having a word of cheer and encouragement to those in sorrow. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were her brother, Henry, of Coggon, Ia., who came to help care for her during her last illness; also Mr. John and Miss Laura Lipton; Mrs. Homer Rathbun and Mr. Willie Hutchinson of Preemption, Ill.; Mr. Sam Jordon of Grey, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Mitchell and two children of Oxford.
