Elizabeth E. Custer, 97, on Monday, January 31, 2011, of St. Louis, MO. Born on July 12, 1913 in Pasadena, CA to the late Claude Earl and Mabel Tubbs. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Rev. Chester Custer on December 15, 2010. Elizabeth graduated from Whittier College and taught elementary school in California and Nashville, TN. She also attended Garrett Evangelical United Methodist Seminary, and received a Master of Arts Degree from Northwestern University. Prior to moving to St. Louis in 1994, Mrs. Custer and her family resided and served various churches in Nashville, TN, Grinnell, IA, Hawarden, IA, and Renwick, IA.

Elizabeth and her husband were avid genealogists, publishing numerous volumes of genealogy on both their families. Mrs. Custer is survived by sons David (wife Marcia) of Silver Spring, MD and Dr. Philip (wife Shawnessey) of St. Louis, MO, daughter Margaret Engle (husband Thomas) of Semmes, AL, and a grandson Matthew Engle of Semmes, AL. Services: A private family interment service is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Committee on Relief, P.O. Box 9068, New York, NY 10087. CREMATION SOCIETY OF ST. LOUIS.
