The funeral for Viola Oakes will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday the 29th at Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford. The graveside service will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Oakes, 86, of Eugene, formerly of Medford, died Friday, August 25, 2006 at her home. She was born July 13, 1920 in Dows, Iowa. On November 16, 1940 in Grinnell, Iowa, she married Francis Oakes. Mrs. Oakes was a keeper of the home in the old fashioned sense of the word, she was the epitome of hospitality, loving to have family and friends near. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth L. Oakes of Granite Falls, Wash., Karl L. Oakes of Eugene, Ore.; a daughter, Karen E. Oakes of Eugene; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
