OBITUARY ~ HOWARD BUTTS
STROKE FATAL TO UPTON RESIDENT

Funeral services were held in Upton this week for one of the community's well known citizens and a resident of Wyoming for 28 years, Howard Butts, 61, who passed away suddenly at his home here Wednesday morning following a stroke of paralysis.

Mr. Butts had been in ill health for a number of years and was forced to give up his ranch work about two years ago and move to Upton because of failing health.

He came to Wyoming in 1911 where he homesteaded on a piece of land south of Upton and later was engaged in farming and ranching. He was very well known in this part of Weston county having many friends who were shocked to learn of his sudden death.

A large gathering of folks attended the funeral here where the Rev. W.L. Wade officiated. The body was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery east of Upton.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lillie (Norris) Butts; three children, Blanche, Calvin and Laura Mae, all of Upton.

NOTE: Howard Butts was born in Montezuma, Iowa, 3 Feb 1878, son of W.L. Butts and Ella Moore.
