RITES HELD OR DR. WEEBER,
BROOKLYN DENTIST FOR 41 YEARS

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Grace United Methodist church for Dr. Chase Weeber, Brooklyn dentist for 41 years, who died Thursday following a lengthy illness.

Rev. E. Edward Philgreen officiated at the services and burial was in the IOOF cemetery where the Masonic Lodge conduced graveside rites. Casket bearers were Ed Montgomery, Dr. L.C. Hickerson, L.L. Kinnamon, Evan Johnston, Irvin Nervig and Tom Ryan.

Caring or flowers were Hildegard and William Heitsman, and Mr. and Mrs. Maynard McLain. Organist was Richard Johnston.

DR. CHASE WEEBER

Chase Rowland Weeber, son of William J. and Emma Rowland Weeber, was born Jan. 30, 1904, in Iowa City, and died Thursday, April 23, 1970, at the Veteran's Administration hospital in Iowa City, where he had been a patient for several weeks.

Chase grew up in Iowa City, where he received all his schooling including the State University of Iowa and Dental School. Following three years as a captain in the Army dental corps, he made Brooklyn his home. It was a this time in 1928 that he began his Brooklyn dental practice from which he retired ater 41 years of service.

In June of 1935 he was united in marriage to Vera Hafkey, who in July of 1936 along with their baby, died in childbirth.

It was three years later in September of 1939 that Chase and Louise Gore Birdzell were united in marriage.

Chase was active in the business and the civic affairs of his community. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Brooklyn of which he was a past master, the Consistory and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine of Des Moines, the Order of the Eastern Star, of which he was a past patron, the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity at Iowa City, the American Legion, the American Dental Association, and the Iowa Dental Association of which he was made a life member in 1969.

He was preceded in death by his first wife and infant child as well as his parents.

Surviving Chase are his widow, Louise; a step-son, George Birdzell of Key Largo, Fla.; three grandchildren; one brother, W.K. Weeber of Rock Island, Ill.; and one sister, Mrs. Alice Sahs of Iowa City.
