Rachelle "Rocky" Standerwick, 81, of Grinnell, died on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 21, 2012, at the Grant Cemetery in Grant, Iowa with Rev. Dwight Grosvener, pastor of the Griswold United Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell beginning 12 noon on Thursday. The family will be present at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Should friends desire memorials may be directed to the Drake Community Library.

Rachelle was born on May 20, 1931, in Grant, Iowa to William and Ruth Breeling Pogue. She was raised on the family near Grant and graduated from Villisca High School. Following her high school education she studied art history at Grinnell College and received a BA degree.

On August 3, 1952, she was married to Raymond E. Standerwick Jr. in Villisca. The couple lived in various Iowa communities before moving to Grinnell in 1957. She was a homemaker and mother.

Rachelle was a member of the United Methodist Church of Grinnell and the Drummond Club. She was past president of PEO, BM Chapter. She was an avid reader, an excellent cook, and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, playing bridge and gardening.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Standerwick of Grinnell.
