INEZ MILLGATE

Inez Millgate, 92, of 818 Eighth Ave., Grinnell, died Sunday, Dec. 4, at Friendship Manor.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Raymond Lott, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers were Robert W. Ashby, Harold Breeden, John Breeden, Harold Churchill, Robert Simmons, Steve Walker, Roger Zylstra and William Zylstra. Honorary bearers were Lloyd Breeden and Verner Millgate. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery southwest of Grinnell.

Memorials in Mrs. Millgate's name may be made to the Kellogg Historical Society or the Kellogg Ambulance Service.

The daughter of John Asher and Eva Whitcomb Breeden, she was born June 5, 1897, in Hickory Grove Township, Jasper County. She attended rural schools.

She was married to Oliver C. Millgate June 2, 1920, at Newburg. The couple farmed in Richland Township in Jasper County from 1920 to 1975. Mrs. Millgate moved to Grinnell in 1977 and did sewing and alteration work in her home.

She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Peery of rural Grinnell, and a brother, E. Lloyd Breeden of Sun City, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers.
