BILL TISH

Bill Tish, age 56, of Grinnell, died on Wednesday May 3, 2017, at Grinnell Health Care Center.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at the Grinnell Eagles Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Jacob Krumm Nature Preserve and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.

William Preston Tish was born the son of William Walter Tish and Lucille Mae (Snook) Tish on August 4, 1960, in Grinnell, Iowa. He was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1978. Bill furthered his education at Marshalltown Community College and Iowa State University before receiving his degree in TV repair from Lincoln Tech in Des Moines.

On November 7, 1986, Bill was united in marriage to Trudy Herr at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple was blessed with a son, Trenton and a daughter, Jodi and made their home in Grinnell. Their marriage later ended in divorce. Bill operated and later owned the family business, Tish TV until his health declined in the last year.

Bill was a family man and a friend to many. He was an outdoorsman who loved deer hunting, fishing, camping, and mushroom hunting. In the winter months he enjoyed bowling and playing cards. He was an avid Iowa State Cyclones and Chicago Clubs fan. His family and friends will remember him as being compassionate, caring, stubborn, loyal, and for being one of the best cooks around.

Bill is survived by his son, Trenton Tish of Grinnell; daughter, Jodi Tish of Grinnell; sisters, Linda Tish and Sue Wyatt, both of Grinnell; brother-in-law, Larry Wyatt of Grinnell; nieces, Lisa (Matthew) Nordin of Grinnell and Laura (John) Carlson of Champlin, Minnesota; and nephew, Marshal Wyatt of Los Angeles, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; uncles, Donald, Keith, Willis Edward, and Floyd Snook, and Keith Arthur; aunts, Elli and Phyllis Snook, Betty Van Dee and Betty Yates.
