ANNE (JONES) WHITE

Anne Isabel White (Montezuma native) died peacefully at her home in Chula Vista, Calif. She was born Anne Isabel Jones on June 6, 1917 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, to Edward Hazen Jones an Ethel Mae (Malcom) Jones, of Montezuma.

Anne grew up in Montezuma and had an older half brother, Ralph Jones. She was graduated from Montezuma High School, Class of 1934. She then graduated from the American Institute of Business in Des Moines.

Anne was united in marriage with Neal C. White of Des Moines, on Sept. 7, 1941 and was married for 59 years before Neal's death in 2000. They lived in Des Moines and were blessed with two children, a son, Stephen and a daughter, Dianne. Anne was employed as a stenographer and secretary for many years. She worked for a law firm in Des Moines, and later for Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company. She also worked for the State of Iowa Department of Public Instruction. Later in California, she worked for the school district and also for the City of Anaheim as a secretary.

Anne spent the first fifty years of her life living in Iowa. They then moved to southern California and lived in Anaheim. Soon after retiring, Anne and Neal returned to Des Moines for a number of years. In 1998, they moved to Ensenada, Mexico for a year to be with their daughter, Dianne. In 1999 they came to Chula Vista, Calif. and went into assisted living. For the last six years Anne and Dianne lived together in Chula Vista, California.

Over the years Anne enjoyed embroidery, knitting and crocheting, growing beautiful houseplants, church activities, reading her Bible, music, canning garden vegetables, sewing clothes for her grandchildren, cutting clippings, looking at family photos and her antique family heirlooms. Anne loved to read and was a wonderful cook.

She cherished time spent with her family and enjoyed recounting the many memories created of those special times spent together.

Anne valued her friends and maintained contact with them over the years.

Anne was a charter member of the National T.T.T. Society, Chapter CC in Des Moines. She also was very active at Wakonda Christian Church in Des Moines and later at the Baptist Church in southern California.

Anne and Neal enjoyed many vacations in their motor home traveling up the coast of California to Oregon and Washington and also to Iowa.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Ethel Jones of Montezuma and her half brother, Ralph Jones of Montezuma. Also by her husband, Neal C. White of Chula Vista, and her son, Stephen Neal White of Anacortes, Wash.

She is survived by her daughter, Dianne White of Chula Vista, Calif. and her daughter-in-law, Linda White of Mount Vernon, Wash. Also by her three married grandchildren, Christine, Jonathan and Michelle of Washington State, and seven great grandchildren.

A private memorial will be held at a later date in Iowa.
