LOUIS TOKLE

LOUIS TOKLE DIES AT THE TYLER HOSPITAL
Has Been Sick for Only About Three Weeks

Louis Tokle died at the Tyler hospital on
Wednesday, June 6th, 1928.

While the end has been expected for several days, still his death was a shock to the people of Lake Wilson as he seemed to be in his usual health and was attending to business matters up to three weeks ago.

He was first taken sick on May 22nd, and as his condition seemed serious he was removed to the hospital at Tyler on May 29. His death resulted from a combination of sleeping sickness and brain fever.

Funeral services were held here last Sunday afternoon by Rev. Oscar Gunstenson of the Lutheran Church.

It was the largest funeral ever held in Lake Wilson and friends came long distances to pay their respect to a friend and neighbor of days gone by.

Mr. Tokle was a successful business man as well as a successful farmer and during his residence here built up a large circle of friends.

Louis Tokle was born at Isfjorden, Norway on May 30, 1874, where he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. He came to America when 16 years of age settling at Grinnell, Iowa. He then lived at Jewell, Iowa where he attended college, and later married Miss Lettie Peterson on February 9, 1898. They moved to Worthington, Minnesota, shortly after their marriage, living there four years. They moved to Lake Wilson where they have since resided with the exception of three years spent in California.

After returning from California he engaged in the farm machine and automobile business. Several years ago he gave up the farm machinery line and devoted his time to the garage business.

To mourn his loss he leaves a widow and eight children: Arthur, Leonard, Gaylord, Orval, Olga, Lily, Myrtle and Anna. One brother, Bert Tokle, of Grinnell, Iowa, and three sisters, Mrs. Edward Peterson, Grinnell, Iowa, Mrs. Daniel Olson, of Englewood, California, Mrs. Tobias Olson, Sac City, Iowa. One hundred relatives from Iowa, South Dakota and California attended the funeral besides a large gathering of friends.
