ROBERT W. HENNING

Robert W. Henning, 69, of Hartwick, IA, died Friday, July 13, 2001, in Grinnell Regional Medical Center, Grinnell.

Funeral services for Robert Henning were held at 11 A.M., Monday, July 16, 2001, at the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Deacon J.C. Otto of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Chelsea officiated. The organist was Verabeth Bricker and the soloist was Anna Upah.

Casket-bearers were Charles Van Thournout, Jerry Henning, Arthur Cooper, David Kielly, James DePauw and Nathanael Ackerman. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn.

A memorial fund has been established.

Robert Wilford Henning, son of Roy Henning and Samantha Davis Henning, was born May 17, 1932, at Kellogg, Iowa.

Bob received his education at Kellogg and served with the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He was married to Donna Mae DePauw on January 12, 1955, in Brooklyn.

Mr. Henning was a life long farmer. They lived in the Brooklyn area for five years and since 1960 they have lived in the Hartwick area.

He was a member of Francis Gallagher American Legion Post #294, Brooklyn, and was a volunteer fireman at Hartwick for 40 years.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one granddaughter, Erin Ollinger.

Surviving are his wife, Donna; one son and his wife, Donald and Beth Henning of Chelsea; his daughter and her husband, Linda and Leslie Ollinger of Grinnell; one brother, John Henning of Hartwick; one sister, Florence Cooper of Kellogg; and five grandchildren, Issac Ollinger, Kathleen Ollinger, Nathanael Ackerman, Jennette Douglas and Edmond Henning.
