Mrs. James Leeper

Funeral services for Mrs. James Leeper, 36, who died at her home near Newton Saturday morning at 5:30 o’clock, were conducted Monday morning at 10:00 in Brooklyn.

The following obituary was taken from the Brooklyn Chronicle:

Helen Mary Roth was born August 3, 1896 in Haspeischeidt, Germany, and died April 29, 1933, at her home near Newton, Ia., at the age of 36 years, 8 months and 26 days.

At the age of four years she came with her parents to Brooklyn, Ia. In January 1918, she was united in marriage to James Leeper and to this union was born eight children, Pauline, Robert, Emma Lou, William, Francis, Lorraine, Mary and Charles. Charles preceded his mother in death in December 1923.

Mr. and Mrs. Leeper made their home in this vicinity until February 1926, at which time they moved to Newton where they have since made their home.

She leaves to mourn her loss besides her husband and children, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Roth, Sr., two sisters, Mrs. John Kriegel and Mrs. Howard Brimmer and three borthers, Joe, Fritz and William, all of Brooklyn, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. E.W. Barron at St. Patrick’s church on Monday morning at 10”00 o’clock. Interment was made in Calvary cemetery. ~ Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa, May 4, 1933
