O.B. STUART SERVICES HELD

O.B. Stuart, 84, of 1426 Fifth Ave., Grinnell, died Sunday morning at his home.

Funeral services were conducted at 1o:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. James P. Russell of the Grinnell United Methodist Church officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Adams, Dennis Brubaker, Larry Glasford, Roger McCulley, Dale Stuart, Doug Stuart, Evan Stuart and Gary Wilson. Honorary bearers were Raymond Bangham, Lawrence Breneman, Glenn Dexter, Harold Edgington, John Rupp Jr. and Carl Tokle.

Burial was at Hazekwood Cemetery. Memorials in Mr. Stuart's name may be made to the Grinnell United Methodist Church.

The son of William F. and Arrisia F. Cooper Stuart, he was born Jan. 1, 1897, near Kellogg. He attended Kellogg schools. During World War I, he served with the U.S. Army.

On Feb. 25, 1920, he was married to Bessie E. Adams at Kellogg. The couple farmed near Kellogg and later moved to Grinnell where Mr. Stuart was associated with the Hagen Brothers Garage for 17 years. In the early 1950s, Mr. and Mrs. Stuart moved to the Blue Point community southeast of Grinnell, where they farmed. They retired in 1973 and moved to Grinnell. Mr. Stuart was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie; his sons, Keith Stuart of Kellogg and Carroll Stuart of Grinnell; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Alma Thompson and Eva Balmer, both of Newton, Helen Brubaker of Searsboro, Faye Vogt of Grinnell and Esther Adams of Loveland, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren.
