LAURA BAKER MEMORIAL SET

Laura C. Baker, 88, of the Mayflower Home died Friday morning at her apartment in Buckley Hall of an apparent heart attack.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Denison Chapel of the Mayflower Home, with the Rev. Philip J. Ramstad, pastor of the United Church of Christ-Congregational, officiating. Mrs. Baker's body was donated to medical science. Memorials in her name may be made to the Mayflower Home or the United Church of Christ-Congregational. Friends may call the Smith Funeral Home for additional information.

The daughter of Edward Holmes and Minerva Sarah Bladen Talbott, she was born Oct. 12, 1892, at Lyons, Kan. Following her mother's death in 1897, she and her twin sister moved to Coleridge, Neb., where they were raised by their aunt and uncle.

On Feb. 27, 1914, she was married to Loren R. Baker at Coleridge. The couple had three children. Mr. and Mrs. Baker lived in Coleridge and Pencer, Neb., and Sioux City. Mr. Baker died in 1942, and she moved to Coleridge. She moved to Belle Plaine in 1964 to live with her twin sister, Lora Schild, until Feb. 1, 1972, when she moved to the Mayflower Home.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ-Congregational of Coleridge, Belle Plaine and Grinnell. She was an organist with the church at Coleridge. She was also active in musical functions at the Mayflower Home. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her daughter, Bonita Fleckenstein of Lewisburg, Pa.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her twin sons, Orren and Loren Baker; four sisters; two brothers; and her foster parents and two foster brothers.
