------------------

The remains of H.O. Vernon were brought to Malcom for interment Monday. Mr. Vernon was born November 18, 1875, and passed to the great beyond Friday evening, July 30, 1909. He was united in marriage to Mattie E. Lunt, September 1, 1897, at New Sharon, Iowa, no children being born to the union. His life to all who knew him was most beautiful. Ambitions led him to the highest stations of life and he was always a leader in social and business affairs wherever duties called him. He studied for the medical profession but gave this up for a business life, in which he proved to be very successful. After discontinuing business with his father and brothers he entered the service of the Wells Flour Milling Company of Wells, Minn., and has been with them up to the time of his death, and in his eight years of constant service held the highest and most responsible positions.

He was a member of the K. of P. and Masonic orders, the latter having entire charge of the funeral. There was a short service at the Presbyterian church. Relatives and out of town friends who accompanied the remains were: Mrs. H.O. Vernon, wife of the departed brother; Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Vernon, father and mother, of Bloomfield, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Vernon, junior, brother and wife; J.E. Vernon, wife and children; Arthur Vernon, nephew, of Delta, Iowa; Resc, Clare, Edna, Opal, Harry, Vernon.

Mrs. H.A. Lunt of New Sharon, mother of the widow; J.R. Lunt and wife, brother; Mrs. E.H. Decker, a friend, from Des Moines; J.H. Binns of New Sharon, a cousin of the widow; H.E. Clark, Wells, representing the firm of the Wells Milling Co.; Mrs. C.R. Van Gordon, sister of the widow; Dr. J.W. Van Gordon, a friend, Emmetsburg, Iowa.
