ALETA SIMPSON, 91

Aleta Marie Simpson, 91, of Montezuma, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998 at GrinnelL Regional Medical Center in Grinnell.

The funeral was at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma on Monday, Dec. 28 with Rev. H. Burr Bryant of United Methodist Church officiating.

Betty Snook sang "The Beautiful Garden of Prayer" and "No Night There." Alice Underwood accompanied her on the organ.

Casket bearers were Keith Hamilton, Dennis Simpson, Chester Simpson, Jr., Matt Hamilton, Larry Simpson and Bill Bernard.

Interment was in Ivy Hill Cemetery in Malcom.

The daughter of John and Amelia (Meese) Strong, she was born Aug. 13, 1907 in Malcom. She started school there and later, attended school in Montezuma.

She moved with her family to a farm near Montezuma in 1914. On Sept. 30, 1926 she married Clarence Simpson in Montezuma.

The couple farmed near Montezuma until retiring in 1973 and moving to town.

Mr. Simpson died May 7, 1979.

Mrs. Simpson recently made her home at Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Women, Dorcus Class and Mary Circle. She was also a member of the Willing Worker Club and the Birthday Club.

Preceding Mrs. Simpson in death were her parents, her husband, a brother, Glen Strong and three sisters, Della Roberts, Rena Hamilton and Vada Whitehead.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Montezuma United Methodist Church.
