RENA M. SCHWER

Rena Margaret Schwer, 88, died Thursday, Oct. 5 at Brookhaven Nursing Home.

She was born Nov. 12, 1906 east of Deep River, the daughter of Jacob and Sarah (Pfiester) Rank. She was graduated from Keswick High School in 1923. In Nov. 1947 she was united in marriage with Albert Schwer.

For the past several years she made her home in Guernsey, before moving to Brookhaven about a month ago. Rena was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Brooklyn.

A quiet woman, her family remembers her wonderful wit and how she liked to read and cook. She especially enjoyed her garden and flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert; her son, Leo; and two sisters, Hazel Kron and Mabel Rickman Cochran.

Rena is survived by a granddaughter, Rose Ellen Schwer of Williamstown, Ky.; six sisters and one brother: Marvel Greiner of Keota; Josephine Elick of Cedar Rapids; Mary Cogswell of California; Verna Myron of Cedar Rapids; Doris Rank of Iowa City and Pauline Icenbice and Lloyd Rank, both of Deep River; and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Mass was held Oct. 7 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn, with Father Joseph Rogers as celebrant. Music was provided by Mrs. Marilyn Kriegel, organist.

Casket bearers were Joe Icenbice, Ray LeGrand, Pat Greiner, Paul Rank, Carl Rank, Junior Elick and Kenneth Thorpe. Interment was at Armah Cemetery, with funeral arrangements made by Watt's Funeral Home, Montezuma.
