CALVIN KINGERY

Calvin Kingery, 72, of Grinnell died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004 at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, at 10:30 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Len Eberhart, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist will be Kathleen McCune. Casket bearers will be Richard, Donald and John Kingery, William Brown, Kyle Pedersen, Jim Onthank, Don Ellis and Rod Boggess. Honorary bearers will be Buzz Dean, George Drabant, Denny Elhard, Neil Johnson, Gene Martinson, Gene McCurry, Frank Reitzler and Jim Van Draska. Burial with military rites will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 9 a.m. Friday with the family present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Grinnell United Methodist Church Building Fund or to the Grinnell Regional Medical Center Building Fund.

He was born Nov. 6, 1932, in Hamburg to Earl and Martha Armstrong Kingery. He graduated from Hamburg High School and served with the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was married on Jan. 27, 1963, to Sharon Richman in Grinnell where he worked for General Telephone Company for 37 years. He was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, the American Legion and the Grinnell Eagles Lodge.

He is survived by his wife Sharon of Grinnell; one daughter Sonja Morrison of Grinnell; two sons, Eric Kingery and Troy Kingery, both of Grinnell; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and one sister Doris Brown of Blue Springs, Mo. He was preceded in death by his patents and three brothers.
