MAXINE SMITH

Maxine Mae Smith, 73, of Grinnell died Monday, Aug. 16, at her home.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Arvid Dixen, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, officiating. Organist was Margaret Wheeler, and pallbearers were Dale, Dennis, Edwin and Roger Lamb, and Harry and Jim Smith.

Burial was in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom.

The daughter of William L. and Emma C. Schultz Lamb, she was born April 22, 1920, near Malcom. She attended rural school.

She was married to Walter W. Smith Aug. 10, 1948, in Lebanon, Tenn. They lived in Kinross where she was a homemaker. She moved to Grinnell in 1975 and was employed by the Grinnell-Newburg School District in the school lunch program. She also did housekeeping in school offices.

Surviving are her son, Walter of Kinross; one sister, Berniece Pals of Thornton; and three brothers, Lavern and Merle Lamb, both of Grinnell, and Shirel Lamb of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Truman and Faye Lamb.
