DONALD DELANO PROVIN

Services were held Thursday morning, May 21, at Smith Funeral Home in Victor for Donald Delano Provin, 65, who died Monday, May 18, 1998, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. The Rev. Torger Johnson of the United Methodist Church of Guernsey, officiated. Organist Marilyn Kriegel accompanied Sue Kluber, who sang "One Day at a Time" and "How Great Thou Art."

Casket Bearers were Lorraine Baustian, Gary Elliott, Wendall "Bud" Gwin, Virgil Heishman, Robert Mullen and Charles Ranfeld. Interment was in the Guernsey Cemetery at Guernsey.

Donald was born on March 12, 1933, at Guernsey, to Clyde and Edna Mullen Provin. He was raised at Guernsey and graduated from Guernsey High School with the class of 1951. Following his education, he served as postmaster at Guernsey, and later worked as an assistant manager of McClellan Stores in Bloomington, Ill.

On Aug. 30, 1958, he was married to Patricia Berger. He returned to Guernsey in 1959 and worked at Wilder Grain Company, and later operated his own trucking service. He was employed at the Donaldson Company in Grinnell for the past 22 years, and retired in 1994.

Donald was a member of the Guernsey United Methodist Church and the Lafayette Masonic Lodge of Montezuma. He had also been a member of the Guernsey City Council and was a past vice president of the U.A.W. Local 1201 of Grinnell.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1968 and a brother, Harold, in 1994.

He is survived by his mother, Edna Provin of Guernsey; his sister-in-law, Louise Provin; four nephews, Michael, Randall, Daniel and Rodney Provin; one niece, Connie Erickson; seven grand-nieces and nephews, Scott, Amy, Anthony, Alisha, Jenny, Jill and Chelsea; and two great-grand-nieces, Asia and Madison.
