MRS. SOPHIA P. SMILEY
DIES IN MASON CITY;
FUNERAL WEDNESDAY

Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Sophia P. Smiley at 10:30 .m. Wed., January 23 at the Smith funeral home. Mrs. Smiley died Saturday, January 19 at Mason City, at the age of 77. Interment will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

Mrs. Smiley, wife of the late Rev. Foster A. Smiley, was a Grinnell business woman from 1924 to 1932. During that time her sons, who survive her, attended Grinnell college. Her sons are: Dr. Ralph Smiley of Mason City, Iowa, Foster Smiley of Council Bluffs, and Paul and Dwight Smiley of Berkeley, Calif. She also leaves six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Miss Flora Parsons of Springfield, Mo. and Mrs. C.H. Plumb of Joplin, Mo. are sisters of Mrs. Smiley.

Mrs. Smiley was born October 11, 1874 near Chillicothe, Mo., the daughter of Charles T. Parsons and Lucina Arnold Parsons.
