HARRY R. BROWN
SUCCUMBS TUESDAY

Harry R. Brown, 68, lifetime resident of Grinnell, died Tuesday night at a local hospital following recent ill health.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. C. E. Kingsley, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Pallbearers will be Ben Mitchell, Frank Mitchell, Earl Mitchell, Bill Werneburg, John Hotchkin and Jess Routier.

Graveside services will be conducted by Focht-Tennant Post No. 53 of the Grinnell American Legion. Interment will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

Born Sept. 13th, 1891, in Grinnell he was the son of Hiram and Prena Jones Brown. He attended the Grinnell public schools and later attended Still College in Des Moines for two years.

During World War I he served with the U.S. Army in France and participated in the St. Mihiel drive.

On July 25th, 1936, he was united in marriage with Eva G. Riggs at Unionville, Mo.; and she survives. Also surviving is a stepson, L.K. Riggs of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two step granchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Eli (Mary) Sumpter of Newton and Mrs. Bill (Ruby) Randel of Las Vegas, Nev.

Mr. Brown was more recently employed at the Mitchell Motor Co. in Grinnell. He was a member of the American Legion.
