FORMER SHERIFF
DIES WEDNESDAY

*Robert F. Gregson (*Tombstone has Robley F.), 71, a former Poweshiek county sheriff, died Wednesday after a six-month illness in Des Moines.

Mr. Gregson was born in Searsboro and had lived in Des Moines 31 years. The former sheriff was also a special agent with the Iowa Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

He was a past president of the Iowa State Sheriffs Association and a member of the I.O.O.F., the Polk County Peace Officers Association, Iowa State Police Association and other law enforcement associations. He was also a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

Mr. Gregson is survived by his son, R.F. Gregson of Des Moines; two brothers, John M. Gregson of Sun City, Calif., and Paul Gregson of New Sharon; a sister, Mrs. Edith Easter of Searsboro; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Fort Des Moines Methodist Church. Burial was at Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma.
