PHYLLIS JANICE KAMMERER

Phyllis Janice Kammerer, age 77, of Grinnell, Iowa, died Friday, October 6, 2006, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Phyllis fought a courageous battle in illness and exemplified love throughout her life. A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 9, 2006 at the First United Presbyterian Church, Miles, Iowa. Reverend Bill Warhover will officiate. Burial will take place in the Miles City Cemetery, iles, Iowa. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 8, 2006 at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa.

Phyllis was born on March 17, 1929, in Miles, Iowa, the daughter of Lester Herman and Bessie (Thompson) Krabbenhoft. She attended Miles Schools and went on to the University of Ioa in Iowa City, Iowa, where she proudly played the Bagpipes with the Scottish Highlanders. On August 13, 1950 in Miles, Iowa, Phyllis married Robert Alfred Kammerer of Chicago, Illinois.

Phyllis worked as an Insurance Specialist for the Grinnell Regional Medical Center for thirty-six years retiring in 2004. Phyllis always put her children, family and pets before herself. She enjoyed genealogy, history, watching movies and keeping up with current events.

Phyllis is survived by her two sons, Robert R. Kammerer and Jeffery R. Kammerer, both of Grinnell and two daughters, Lacene D. Kammerer of Grinnell,a nd Jodene "Jody" Jones of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; and son-in-law, Stephan M. Jones of Watertown, Minnesota; two granddaughters, Nicole and Stephanie Jones; one grandson, Erik Robert Kammerer; a brother, Dr. Kenneth L. Krabbenhoft of Novi, Michigan; cousins, Philip Serryruer of Davenport, Iowa, Wanda Krabbenhoft Brechler of Denver, Colorado Donna Krabbenhoft Lister of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Clint Krabbenhoft of Coralville, Iowa and her loyal and cherished feline companions, Beemer, Riko & Nevin. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents; son, Timothy Alfred Krammerer, and a brother, Wayne G. Krabbenhoft, Sr.
