NELLIE M. PERRY,
EARLY RESIDENT,
DIES IN TEXAS

Word has been received of the death of Nellie M. Perry, member of a former well known Grinnell family, in Perryton, Texas, age (89)? years. She was one of the early graduates of Grinnell college in the class of 1885. She had been bedfast since January of 1950.

The Perry family were prominent residents of early Grinnell. The father conducted an implement business where the Thriftway store now stands. Nellie's brother, George went to Texas, where he acquired large landholdings. He was a lawyer and later became a judge. The town of Perryton was named from him and was founded on land which he owned.

The Perry family moved to Texas after George became established and had lived there for many years.

Miss Perry is survived by one (sister?), also living in Perryton.
