BROOKLYN--Stephen Rex "Virg" Heishman, age 59 of Brooklyn, died Saturday, June 14, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 6 P.M. at the Holiday Lake Community Center, with Rev. John Reynolds, Jr. officiating. A casual and informal celebration of Virg's life, and a meal will follow. Inurnment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn is assisting the family with arrangements.
He is survived by his mother, Nancy Tebbenhoff (Carl) of Dupo, IL, his loving sisters, Susan Hopwood (Ken) of Montezuma, Lori Hiner (George) of Brooklyn, Brenda Mikel Hagedorn (Don) of Grinnell, and Kristi Chedester (Willy) of Brooklyn; his nieces and nephews and their families; and many aunts and uncles, and cousins.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Mary Jane Goodrich Heishman, his grandparents, and a brother-in-law, Doug Mikel.
