HEART ATTACK

Funeral Services Will Be
At 2:30 O'clock Tues-
day Afternoon.

William Gardner, diligent in business all his life long, good friend, good neighbor, devoted family man, was called suddenly from the active life of Grinnell when he succumbed to a heart attack at 8:25 o'clock Sunday morning in a local hospital. He had been stricken in his home at (?) o'clock Saturday evening and warning had been given by other lighter attacks during the past few days.

Funeral services will be held from the James Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon, April 27, at 2:30 o'clock with burial in Hazelwood cemetery.

William Gardner was born in Jasper County Oct. 10, 1875. His parents were Adila Sturdivant and Charles L. Gardner. He came to Grinnell when he was five years of age and has lived here ever since. He attended Grinnell schools and graduated from Grinnell high school in 1895. Mr. Gardner was in the real estate and Insurance business, at the time of his death. For 23 years he was associated with the Preston clothing store, part of the time as a partner with Mr. A.B. Hamilton. He was a member of the Methodist church and the Elks lodge.

He was twice married, first to Maude Ricketts and to this union one son was born, who died in infancy. His second marriage was to Grace Cunningham Luscombe of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. There is also one daughter, Wilma Gardner Dahl, wife of John E. Dahl of Pittsburgh, Pa., and two grandsons, John Gardner Dahl and William Edward Dahl, who are left to mourn the loss of a loving husband, father and grandfather. He also left three sisters, Mrs. J.D. Shearer of Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. F.C. Kendall of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Claude Franklin of Braham, Minn., and two nieces, Mrs. Imogene Bradley and Mrs. Joseph Schwab who reside in Grinnell.
