HENRY WARNER WILLIAMS

Henry W. Williams was born at Alburgh, Vt., on June 23, 1829, and died at his home 1010 High St. in this city on Tuesday, April 26, 1906.

When but a young man he removed from New England to Ohio where he settled in Cleveland. In 1855 he came to Grinnell where he has since lived. In the early days he engaged in his trade as a cabinet-maker and later in the furniture business with his brother-in-law, William Beaton.

Mr. Williams was married three times and was the father of two daughters. His last wife and one daughter, Mrs. Abbie Williams Hill, of Tacoma, Wash., survive him.

In the early days he was active in business and was known as one of the pioneers of the town. In more recent years he has lived in retirement on a competency which he had secured by careful business methods.

For thirty-six years he was a member of the Congregational church and died believing firmly in the Christian Faith. Funeral services were held from the house Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock conducted by the Rev. E.M. Vittum and Prof. L.F. Parker. At the cemetery there were exercises in charge of the I.O.O.F. of which the deceased had long been a respected member.

The surviving wife and daughter have the sincere sympathy of the citizens of this community.
