NELLIE REGINA SHROPE, 94

MECHANICSVILLE--Nellie Regina Shrope, 94, formerly of Lisbon, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 1995, in Mechanicsville Care Center after a short illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Morgan Funeral Home, Mechanicsville, where friends may register after noon Tuesday. There will be no visitation. Burial: Rose Hill Cemetery.

The casket will be closed at all times.

Survivors include two cousins and a longtime friend, Clara Light of Lisbon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Edna Shrope; and a brother, Harold.

Nellie was born Feb. 18, 1901, in Mechanicsville to Albert and Anna Shrope. She graduated from Mechanicsville High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. Nellie taught country school in Cedar County for three years before moving to Grinnell in 1925, where she taught in the public school system for 36 years, retiring in 1961.

NOTE: Miss Shrope taught at Davis Elementary School in Grinnell, Iowa.
