Carl Johann Frederick Jentzen was born in Germany 74 years ago and died at his home in Marshalltown early Sunday morning after a prolonged illness from asthma and heart trouble. He came to this country when thirty-six years of age. He first settled in this county near Malcom where he married Miss Hannah Fritz in 1870. On Jan. 1, 1895 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Peek (Peak) and nine years ago they moved to Marshalltown where they have since made their home.

Besides his wife there are three sons who survive him. They are H.W. and Otto W. Jentzen of Marshalltown and Charles H. Jentzen who lives near Malcom.

Brief services were held at the late residence in Marshalltown Tuesday morning at 8:00 o'clock conducted by the Rev. C.S. Lang after which the body was brought here and services held at the German Lutheran church north of Malcom late in the afternoon conducted by the Rev. A. Matthias. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot there.
