NORVA MARIE BROYLES

Norva Marie "Corky" Broyles, 69, of Grinnell died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at Friendship Manor Care Cener in Grinnell.

A gathering of friends will be held at a later date.

She was born June 18, 1941, in Christopher, Ill., and was raised and educated in Oklahoma. She had lived in several communities throughout her life, including Iowa City for several years, before moving to Grinnell in 1996. She had been a migrant worker and later a motel manager, retiring in 1991.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, who enjoyed her many friends there and their support. She enjoyed painting.

She had fought a long battle with esophageal cancer and later lung cancer. She was in hospice care at Friendship Manor where she continued her sense of humor and fun loving.

Her dearest friend of more than 40 years was Joan Anderson, and her extended family included the Anderson children, Marlys Anderson, Scott Anderson and Tim Anderson. A special friend to her and her extended family in her final months was Tom Moore.
