MRS. FOSTER IS
CALLED BY DEATH

Her Passing On Friday Afternoon
Dampens Christmas Joy of Com-
munity.

HAD MADE HER HOME
IN GRINNELL SINCE 1914.

Funeral Services Were Conducted
Monday Morning By Rev. F.F.
Bosworth.

The unexpected death of Carrie Elizabeth Foster at the Community Hospital in Grinnell on Friday Dec. 24th, came as a distinct shock to the community, and her family and friends are stunned by the sudden bereavement.

Born at Doddsville, Ill., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Shirk, her early girlhood was spent there until she removed with her family to Bardolph, Ill., where she met and married Jack Foster.

In July 1914 she removed to Grinnell with her husband and daughter, and here she made her life and her influence felt and appreciated by those who knew her best.

Cheerful, unselfish, and loyal to her friends and her convictions she will be missed most by those who knew her best, but everyone who had contact with her personality will miss her sunny smile and her cheerful disposition. In the closing hours of her life she exhibited that highest type of courage and indefatigable will which only the great crises of life develop.

In the years to come her family will remember her self-sacrificing devotion and her intimate friends will miss most of all her fire and unmatched loyalty to those whom she loved.

Survived by her husband, her daughter, Mrs. E.F. Hanger of Shelbina, Mo., two brothers and two sisters, the influence of her life will be felt not alone by these, but by every one who was privileged to truly know her.

Funeral services were conducted Monday morning from Snyder Brothers' chapel in the presence of a large number of sorrowing friends. Rev. F.F. Bosworth spoke words of comfort and sympathy. The members of the Grinnell Fire Department, of which Mr. Foster his the chief, attended in a body. The pallbearers were Carl Satchell, Ted Risse, Harry Case, Austin Appleby, A.B. Manson and Fred Whitaker. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.

Those from out of town here for the funeral included Mrs. D.H. Tillitt of Shelbina, Missouri, Mrs. Robert Richey? and Mr. Wayne Lambert of Rushville, Illinois, Mrs. F.E. O'Brien and John Soden of Chicago.
